Application Checklist

First-Year Application Checklist

What We'll Need From You (the Applicant):

  • First Year Application: A completed application including the application essay is required. You may choose to use either the Coalition App (powered by Scoir) or the .
  • Application Fee: An application fee of $65 is required for all applicants. Application fee waivers are easy to obtain for students who meet qualifications for a fee waiver. Both application forms will provide information to help determine if you are eligible to have the application fee waived.
  • Early Decision Agreement (only required for Early Decision applicants): This binding contract will be signed by you, a parent/guardian, and your school counselor. The ED Agreement indicates that if admitted, you will enroll at Dickinson and withdraw any applications submitted to other institutions.
  • Standardized Testing (optional): Since 1994, Dickinson has employed a test-optional admissions process. There are usually a lot of questions about test optional policies, and we’ve put together a Test Optional FAQ where you can learn more about our approach.
  • Interview (recommended): Interviews are not required, we do, however, find them to be of value. An interview provides added depth to the application and helps us get to know the person we are advocating for in the committee room. Interviews may take place virtually or in person.
  • Arts, Music, Theatre Supplements (optional): Students who wish to submit supplementary art, music or theatre materials may do so through SlideRoom as part of the Common Application. Additional information for students interested in submitting materials and/or auditioning is available online for music (and the Music Scholars Award), art a²Ô»å theatre & dance

What We’ll Need From Your School:

  • High School Transcript: Official secondary school transcript(s) listing all courses and grades. Grades from the senior year (whether first quarter, first trimester or mid-year) are required before decision release.
  • Counselor Recommendation & School Report: Your counselor will submit these items directly to our office.
  • Teacher Recommendations: One recommendation from a teacher in a core course is required, two are recommended.

What We’ll Need for Financial Aid Consideration:

  • FAFSA: Applicants for federal and state aid must by the selected admission application deadline.
  • CSS Profile: In order to be considered for need-based aid from Dickinson, the applicant also must  by the admission application deadline. To be considered for all need-based aid available from Dickinson, BOTH forms need to be completed using information from 2023 federal tax forms.
  • International Students: Dickinson is proud to provide need-based funding for our international population (not to exceed the cost of tuition). In addition to the CSS Profile, international students applying for need-based aid must also submit the Certification of Finances. Learn more about material requirements.

Additional Note for International Applicants:

International applicants will have additional material requirements for the application, including proof of English proficiency. Check out the international admissions page for complete information.

After You Submit:

Upon submission of your application, you will be given a unique login to your Applicant Portal where you may view the materials received and any which are missing from your application file. This is also the location where admission decisions will ultimately be posted.
