Students as Scholars

At Dickinson, research is more than just a requirement—it’s a vibrant part of your academic journey. Whether you’re collaborating closely with professors, pursuing your own independent investigations or diving into senior projects, you’ll have countless opportunities to explore your passions and contribute original ideas.

Research is woven into nearly every field of study at Dickinson, offering you the chance to engage deeply with your discipline through hands-on projects and creative exploration. No matter your major or interests, you’ll find meaningful ways to investigate, innovate and share your discoveries.

The pages linked to here celebrate these dynamic scholarly pursuits, showcasing everything from compelling presentations and innovative artistic performances to published research.

"It was an opportunity for me to work with and learn from highly skilled psychology researchers, [and] after interning for 10 weeks, I learned to recognize that conducting research requires passion, creativity, adaptability, patience and motivation. It has made me appreciate all of the knowledge that we have of the world around us—the knowledge, which is the result of painstaking years of study and research, that we take for granted most of the time.”

—Mihir Nath Pyakuryal,
on his summer internship at the Social Minds Lab at the University of Michigan
